Well, fuck. I don't even know what to say. Lesley, of course, seems to think there will be Britain First Brownshirts on the streets immediately, but for me it's more Welcome to higher food prices, higher fuel bills - seeing as all the the utility companies were sold to the French and Germans - more austerity, more fucking the poor,... All the folks who voted Leave are soon going to wonder why their mobile roaming charges and shit are suddenly bigger....Probably energy shortages, then. None of this has to happen immediately, though - but you can bet companies will start jacking prices asap.

Of course, England and Wales voted to leave, and Scotland and NI voted remain, so I guess we'll now see an Irish Reunification drive, and another IndyRef - so what's the future of the UK? If any.

I guess all we can hope for is that a) whoever ends up as PM was more interested in moving into No. 10 than destroying the UK and the economy of both Britain, Europe, and large chunks of the rest of the world. And that b) the right people remember that the referendum was advisory only and not legally binding, and that Article 50 doesn't *have* to be invoked.

But, basically, what the fuck? I've never seen such a suicidal vote in my life. Never. Why the hell did they even *have* the referendum? What was the point for Cameron. Fucking idiot.

For those wondering which way I voted, and why, I don't mind saying. Despite my immense disappointment at them letting things slide, Lib Dem.

Why? First, I dislike the Tories and Labour equally - and for a lot of similar reasons, actually. (No rational foreign policy, snooper's charters, invasions of privacy, and the general new caste of bankers' friends going straight into government from Uni without life/work experience in the real world first.) - Vote Cameron, get Osborne and IDS. Vote Miliband, get Balls and Harman. None of those options appeal. Obviously voting UKIP is out of the question, so that left (in this constituency) Lib Dem or Green.

That made it a numbers game. We're in a roughly tied seat - 43% Tory, 37% Labour, neither of whom I'd vote for - with UKIP on 10%, LDs on 7% and Greens on 3%. If, as was always likely, it's going to be hung parliament, that means I want to avoid the risk of a nightmare anybody/UKIP coalition. That means a vote for the Greens will be wasted, but a Lib Dem vote, in this constituency at least, *might* help in some tiny way to keep the LDs level with UKIP, and deny UKIP the chance to be coalition power-brokers.

So, tactical anti-UKIP vote for the LDs it is... Not that I expect it to make a difference, given how slaughtered the LDs will get

A UKIP leaflet/flyer dropped through the door today. In the moments that it took to tear it into tiny strips I noticed that the centrefold was an "I'm voting UKIP" sheet to put in your window, which, underneath the "I'm voting UKIP" adds "no more leaflets."

Wait, hang on... So they're operating on a system of "the only way to opt out of getting our junk mail is put our ad in your window and fly our flag!"?

Fuck you.

Now, true, I don't know how normal this is for political parties right now, cos these motherfuckers are the only ones who've actually put a leaflet through the doors round here (another reason why they'll probably do too well, generally, since the others are so lazy), but that's an automatic Fuck You from us...
