Now that the UK has had the regular premiere of Game of Thrones season 4, let's hear it for Arya Stark, who is a far better role model for daughters than, well, any of that pink stuff.

Which reminds me, what the fuck is up with the Kinder easter egg ad? The boys get Batman in blue, while the girls get... fuck knows what it is, but it's pink, of course. What's the point of this?

Aside from the gender stereotyping that makes my blood boil every time I see this ad, I do have to wonder why the girls can't have Batgirl in blue, Catwoman in blue/grey, etc... After all, if they've paid for a license anyhow...

Or, you know, they could have just put in their regular company livery for all. But there is definitely an *increase* in this sort of shit, when you'd think that the also-increasing awareness of and opposition to it would reduce it...

Why, yes, I *am* staying up to watch new Game of Thrones at 2AM, simulcast with the US airing...

Diana Rigg UST flirting with Charles Dance, while teasing him about whether he'd ever sampled bumming - I'm not tripping, so it must be this week's best scene in Game Of Thrones, when they've finally put the two biggest fucking scene stealers in a scene together...

And Thoros and Beric's back story, told by Thoros, was tear-jerking...

Now Varys and Littlefinger are having a good scene too... "chaos is a ladder."

And Joffrey's still a psycho cunt - with just one wordless but horrible scene at the end that's fucking freaking me out a bit - who deserves a really shitty end.

Ooh, that was a good Thrones episode - the Dany/slavers storyline went *exactly* how I predicted it would last week - I wonder what's Valyrian for "yippee-ki-ay, motherfucker"?

Nice to hear Varys's story from the second book, and his scene with Diana Rigg was great. And Charles Dance fucking rules, as always. (Actually, I'm wondering how they're going to go with who's responsible for Joffrey...)

Mind you, I also notice Rory McCann has totally given up on trying to hide his accent as the Hound! He was very Scottish tonight...

That last scene would have made a fantastic season finale scene - and I hope that music track is going to be on the season 3 soundtrack

Yay, Game Of Thrones was great! Also, on Saturday Dr Who was pretty good- it worked as a good season premiere to introduce a new companion. Yay!

Also, I've been having the Roger Smith weekend - started drinking (with brandy) on Friday night about 6pm and haven't stopped yet (I'm even putting coffee in the bourbon, and yes, I know it's a bit naughty, but, you know, it's just weekend...). Normal service should be resumed tomorrow... That what it takes for me to cope with an Eastercon...

I mean, I'm reasonably immune to the effects of alcoholo, but after 75 hours or so (yeah, like bear in mind I have half an hour's sleep Staruday/sunday night, so not a lot of downtime), I can get there...

So, it has taken a solid 75 hours but I've got the stage where I will totally losae the ability to really restrict what I say... I mean vocally, not typing. So it's just as well I'm at home.
