Jul. 8th, 2013 10:00 amI see we have a new candidate for misogynist controlling douchebag of the year, in the form of Nigella Lawson's soon-to-be ex-husband - the who so tastefully informed her of his choice for divorce by giving an interview to the Hate Mail of Sunday which had the headline (which I saw in WH Smiths at a motorway services) of "Nigella, I'm divorcing you and giving this interview to tell you."
All because apparently none of us bought the idea that squeezing her throat during an argument "to emphasise a point" was somehow anything other than abuse. (I know, it
s weird isn't it, these oh so silly PC laws and societal mores that say such things a wrong; tch; sign of the apocalypse, dogs and cats living together, etc...)
So, remember folks- squeezing the throat or pressuring the carotid during consensual and mutually-agreed rough sex/BDSM/breath play kind of situation: OK, if that's your thing. Squeezing the throat or pressuring the carotid because you're a misogynist controlling douchebag who needs physical violence to "emphasise a point", or can't grasp the idea that a woman (or anybody else they're throttling) might dare to have another view on that point: she's better off without you, and the people around should have done something about it.

Yep, I've found that watching the news tends to make want to to do nasty things to people... Thank fuck for videogames...
Oh, also, Charles Stross points out here - http://www.antipope.org/charlie/blog-static/2013/04/psa-ignore-the-news.html (which also includes a link to this Guardian piece) that national/international news now is *actually* all geared towards bringing money into advertisers, hence the playing to the lowest common denominator
