I'll do that again.

I see from around the place that there’s new Jaffar/Princess fic from [Unknown site tag]: http://archiveofourown.org/works/5673169/chapters/13069204

Come to think of it, I don’t remember if I recced this previous one - http://archiveofourown.org/works/5176685 but just in case I didn’t…

Anyway, I haven’t read this latest yet, but if it#s a great as the previous ones (which I have), you should be in for a treat.

Fic Ritson

So, with Lesley having been ficcing Da Vinci's Demons and especially focussing on Riario, who has to teach her about the era's swordplay, eh? Muggins here, that's who. And who also has to listen to her read out bits all the time, cos she's incapable of writing scenes without storytelling/performing them....

But in revenge I just showed her the League Of Gentlemen episodes in which Blake Ritson (Riario in Da Vinci's Demons) is the object of Herr Lipp's affections...

Decided I couldn’t not write a Dr Who story this year, in some form. So after half a bottle of Russian Standard, here it is:

Do Or Do Not

“I hate you.” She said it so often, in such frustration.
“No you don’t.” Always so confident, so sure, so revelling in being right. So elated. So proud.
“And what about when she does hate you?” that nagging voice said, not in his ear, but in his head. “What then?” It was quiet but crisp, certain, the mocking tone of it a potential as yet unheard. Almost.
“You know what then,” he told the voice that prowled in the shadows in the back of his mind. He spoke softly, but firmly, determined that it should be convincing to at least one of them. “You, of all people, know what then.”
A long silence, then one voice. “I always survive.”

Maybe I should incorporate it into a longer story of some kind some day, but it’ll do as a vignette.

Didn't fic

I did think, earlier in the year and inspired by ficcing friends and the fic-heavy programmes at Redemption and Nine Worlds, of doing a DW fic and posting it anonymously or pseudonymously somewhere for the anniversary...

But there wasn't the spare time, so I haven't.

Still, technically the 50th anniversary year *started* yesterday, not ended, so maybe I will later.

For now Lesley's doing the ficcing, on Da Vinci's Demons, which I don't think I could do, either paid or unpaid, simply because I wouldn't be able to not have Ezio in it (though in a fic that crossover would be OK) and also because I couldn't not do Pope Sixtus as Bishop Len Brennan from Father Ted. I keep expecting him, in the show, to bellow "CRILLY!" when he's been fucked up...

You know you've spent time with the wrong crowd when you wake up from a dream where you were writing the novel revealing that the female Dr Who companion most into anal is Leela because she's from a preindustrial society in which that's an obvious contraceptive-friendly means of shagging, in a world where pills and condoms don't exist. (which is, after all, pretty much how the whole religious anti-buggery thing got going anyway.)

This may not be unconnected to having been having to drink only coffee and booze the last couple of days cos we have run out of juice.

I'm never going to be allowed near Dr Who again, eh?

ETA- This is the sort of thing that pops unwanted into your head at random if you're a writer...

Like Dorothy Parker said, "writers and poets and such horses' necks start off from anywhere and end up at sex"
