lonemagpieI don't get moody about age or anything like that come birthday time, but I do find myself worn down by - as with the lead-in to Xmas - the issue of "what do you want for Xmas/birthday? You must want something..."
Honestly, whatI really *really* do want is all shit I won't get, at least without time travel or shit. What I'd have wanted? Restoration of that nearly 20 year long friendship tosomething resembling the normality of geeking out there always was- well that's unlikely as I've no way to contact them. No surgeries in the coming year, well that's fucked cos there's already one rescheduled from last month to next year, and another appointment on January 18th to decide whether I need TIPSS surgery. A nice advance-paying book contract, well that's possible, but not over the seasonal period when all the publishers are shut (In my experience, spring and autumn have always been the top times for that.)
So, good luck finding any of that shit in a shop.
II also, being a writer and all, want to take pleasure in giving pleasure, and help make people happy Another one you can't find in a shop.
