The answer is Eastercon up in Glasgow.

Was more fun than most Eastercons, did a couple of panels (on historical fantasy TV shows, and 2013 in TV), sat in the audience of a lot of panels (early SF, British cancelled space program stuff, exoplanets, the martial arts demo, the "of the Doctor" trilogy, etc), and played most of the Lesser Robots in Man Of Iron, and Soolin in the Wobblevision of Syndeton Experiment...

Also the team I was on won the pub quiz, and Lesley and I came second in the masquerade, as the War Doctor (me) and Athos of the King's Musketeers (her). Yes, there are pictures on Facebook and Tumblr (originallonemagpie for me, coolserpentina for her)

I swore I wouldn't buy a huge pile of books, and stuck to five regular sized paperbacks, hurrah! But by the time you add in the freebies from publishers, and ones won in the aforementioned pub quiz, I still ended up with four times that many...

All one's documents - passport, martial arts licence, atraight-card, you name it - expire and require renewal at the same time?

Book Of Lies is a chase thriller by Brad Meltzer, who's TV show, Decoded, is usually fun, and that's why I gave the novel a go.

Overall it was OK, but predictable in all the twists, and the characters never leapt off the page.

The story's about the search for the truth behind the Biblical mark of Cain, and the weapon he supposedly used to kill Abel. Also it's about the origins of Superman. Meltzer definitely gets points for having a surprising yet fitting actual truth to what the Macguffin is, though it never quite follows through with the weapon part.

So, a bit laboured, but generally entertaining in a TV episode-ish way.
