My brain hurts

And this is what happens when I spend a morning doing loads of metric-imperial conversions about space and stuff because all the science websites use metric and my publisher uses imperial….

(and the costochondritis/costo-chandral sep from getting in an awkward relationship with the arm of the couch last week, just where I'd previously had broken ribs, isn't helping...)

House vinyl non-acquisition

Did find grey stone-effect vinyl tiles and that sort of brick-tile look ones as well- thought of getting some of both, some for the kitchen and some for the entrance hall - but it turns out there was only one packet of the stone effect (not enough) and the brick-tile ones were too smooth- the discontinuity between appearance and feel underfoot would bug the living shit out of this weird old brain. (the wood-pattern ones for the bathroom have a wood-like texture that works for me).

Meh.

Well, at least I grabbed some bathroom sealant while I was looking...

Bogart kind of night

Had a nice dinner in The Marine cocktail bar with three hours of live blues-jazz. Made me feel very... Bogart. They actually undercharged us, but it was a sufficiently good night to make me honest and say to the girl "well, I *could* pay you this... or I could pay for the first couple of drinks as well, which are left off the bill."

Bogie would have done that.

Just needed an appropriate femme fatale to walk in in trouble with a well-paying case.

Lesley had an interesting quote from having the shellfish linguini - "I kept moving the pasta and finding new things in shells under there". Yeah, that sounds like... not my kind of dish. Still, I rather she does "iai iai cthulhu fthtagn" in the night than the snoring she *is* doing right now.
