lonemagpie: Jake and Elwood (blues brothers)
Creepers, by David Morrell is a lovely little thriller that would make a great low-budget movie or TV movie. It's about urban explorers going into an abandoned hotel, and then... well, shit happens cos they're not the only ones. It really feels tense and claustrophobic. Good stuff.

I finally managed to eat some slices of reindeer, which tasted like gamier salami, but without the fat, cos it's just gorgeous lean flesh... So that's another ambition fulfilled!

And, of course, Lesley always has said I'm the transporter accident between Bernard and Manny...

And yes! Lovely hardwood stairs - which means that fucking hideous beige uncleanable stain-magnet of a stair carpet is going to have an unfortunate accident *very* soon! In fact, pretty much as soon as I can take a "before" picture and get some dark wood-stain...

The cats will be disappointed that they don't have a stair carpet to get their claws into, but since they won't be able to piss on it either, fuck 'em.

Well, it may be a Bank Holiday, but... new carpeting acquired. Nice dark blue, much less stainable! So, the plan is: remove stair carpeting and have wipeable wooden stairs, wipeable linoleum in kitchen and bathroom, dark blue carpet in living room and probably the landing. (but not putting down said blue carpet until the rest of the cleanup/reboot is done, obviously, cos that'd be stupid.)

(yeah, this is a couple of days late, but I was away at a wedding, as you know)- Loved it (except for a certain rubbish monster prop, and maybe the Tom Tom joke which was unbelievably obvious) - so many homages to both Dr Who (Talons, etc) and other stuff (Horror Express and Carry On Screaming especially).

It really felt like a back-door pilot, which would be good. And Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling were fucking great! Loved the grainy early film look for the flashback!

Oh, and is it just me, or was anybody else totally convinced that the Great Intelligence was gonna be behind it again?

The cats haven't pissed in the bedrooms, so I don't need to worry about those carpets, but they have in the living room and landing. I know we have crappy chipboard floors on the rooms, so I'll have to keep the living room carpeted (with the new blue carpet I got today to replace the beige stain-magnet), but I'm not sure about the landing... Crappy rugs are getting taken to the council tip though.

Already got linoleum for the kitchen, and will get more for the bathroom. I want "wipeable" not "absorbent" in those places...

Have taken some pics of bits of the house for the "before" bits when I document the changes...

Also, shelves and brackets acquired, for piles of books to be transferred from floor to walls after walls are repainted...

And while I'm on it... Yeah, OK, since people keep saying I'm feminist, I'll accept that tag and be honoured to be called that.

Diana Rigg UST flirting with Charles Dance, while teasing him about whether he'd ever sampled bumming - I'm not tripping, so it must be this week's best scene in Game Of Thrones, when they've finally put the two biggest fucking scene stealers in a scene together...

And Thoros and Beric's back story, told by Thoros, was tear-jerking...

Now Varys and Littlefinger are having a good scene too... "chaos is a ladder."

And Joffrey's still a psycho cunt - with just one wordless but horrible scene at the end that's fucking freaking me out a bit - who deserves a really shitty end.

Lovely last shot though
