Yeah I mean Syria

Something I don't get, on the news- various countries including Britain and France are looking at ways to stop folks who hate the place and want to go off committing brutal violence in a war zone elsewhere from leaving. Instead keeping them at home, where they might still indulge in a spot of the old ultra-violence. Now, I know I have failings and flaws, but is there actually a *good* reason why it wouldn't make more sense to just let them go, and ban them from coming fucking back in (if they survive in said war zone?)

I mean, freedom of choice, and all that...

(And ironically they're fighting for the side the West was going to be on before they decided to do it themselves - so that's another reason for wondering...)
